Barcelona Guide

The Spanish city of Barcelona is located in the autonomous region of Catalonia and is Spain's second largest city after Madrid. Barcelona is one of the most visited cities in the world and lies on the coast between the mouths of the River Llobregat and River Besos. It is also bordered to the west by the Serra de Collserola mountain range. There are many things to do and see in Barcelona including the Barri Gotic (the Gothic Quarter) where many medieval buildings can be found. The city's best known landmark is the still unfinished church of the Sagrada Familia which has been under construction since 1882. Barcelona's port has three terminals and is a popular departure port for ferries to Mallorca, Genoa, Ibiza and Morocco (Tangier Med). The port also accommodates many cruise ships sailing the Mediterranean Sea. The port's piers used by ferries are located quite close to the city centre.
